Mission Statement

Lake Tara Nature Habitat's mission is to restore and rebuild Lake Tara and surrounding property for the enjoyment of residents and visitors alike, while at the same time providing a Natural Habitat area for use by local schools and organizations for educational field trips for their students and researchers alike. If Lake Tara can be preserved and restored over 30 species of wildlife and over 40 species of plant life some of which is endangered will be available for all to enjoy.

Lake Tara is located in Jonesboro, Georgia in the unincorporated area of Lake Tara. Some of the Major streets and roads surrounding the community include Tara Road, Jonesboro Road and Hwy. 138.

Many different forms of wildlife make Lake Tara home. Some of the wildlife is either on the ENDANGERED SPECIES LIST (via DNR) or at the least being watched and protected to keep from being placed on that list. Soon, pictures of that wildlife will be posted on the Wildlife page of this site. ALL PHOTO'S WERE TAKEN ON THE LAKE OR PULLED FROM SITES SUCH AS D.N.R.
